And when the fog's over and the stars
and the moon come out at night
it'll be a beautiful sight.

Cliq Asia

A new identity for an established photography agency based in Singapore and Shanghai. Cliq Asia represents some of the best photographers in Singapore and has helped numerous ad agencies create amazing visuals which has led to a diverse range of award-winning work. Abstract shapes that represented camera parts were put together to spell the name and the letter Q was modified to symbolize a pulley as reference to "rigging" and the lengths Cliq will go to achieve their clients' vision.

Society Bar

An extension of The Prime Society, the Society Bar focuses on serving unique and high quality beverages for both pre and aft dinner drinking. The identity of the bar is clean and polished to help establish a degree of independence from the main restaurant. To announce the opening of the bar, a special media kit was designed to contain the essential press materials. A Tasting Companion was prepared for the media event which featured a tasting session of some special cocktails uniquely available at Society Bar. Just like The Prime Society, the bar comes with its own set of etiquette which is not as serious as it appears.

Artisan Cellars

A Cellar that's as much a conversation piece as the wine it stores – 400 bottles of luxury cuvee wines are contained in a dramatic 3m x 6m cement block, extruded from the shop into the public space. The design stands in contrast to other cookie-cutter cellar spaces with wine worthy quotes by renowned writers etched into understated white-washed walls.

FiftyThree

A modern European restaurant with cool Nordic interiors. FiftyThree's culinary influences can be traced to some of the best-known cutting edge establishments in the world, including Noma in Denmark, The Fat Duck in England and Mugaritz in Spain. The identity is very stripped down and minimal to present an understated expression in accordance with the cuisine which is served elegantly without gimmicks and deserves no distractions.

CRF - Autumn / Winter '10

Consider it a world's first: Chocolate bars offered in 100 different flavours, conceptualized by a serious chocolate lover. A completely decadent release, the AW2010 presents some of the world's favourite desserts like, Lychee Sorbet, Blackforest Cake, Banana Flambe, Honey Dew Sago and packs them neatly into a series of ten chocolate bars aptly code named: "That Sweet High".

The packaging is a graphic interpretation of sweet sauces, jams and syrups. Candy coloured stripes melt and drip into groovy patterns; an expression of the sweet rush this newset of flavours promises to deliver.

HarryHalim

Inspired and influenced strongly by personal experiences and emotional journeys, Harry creates his collection. With an acute sense of the female silhouette, he constructs very asymmetric garments, heavy and sombre in mood, but physically light as a day dream.

For his logo, the ascenders and descenders were shortened to create a balance. The arm of the letter "y" was cropped, symbolising emotional wounds and trauma, conveniently providing a statement of asymmetry. The letter "y" being the only letter with a descender seemed destined for this role by default. For every season, harry works with a very limited colour palette, preferring to play with textile texture. To compliment this, the logo changes to the key colour of each season.

Liberate

Fences segregate and words have the power to liberate. An illustrative typeface, inspired by the chain link fences commonly found in our environment. Sometimes, letters and words are more than powerful enough. Feel free to download the typeface here

Bento

An experiment in a display type. After removing the negative spaces, the empty shapes become containers which are then filled in with cuts of found typefaces. An experiment in trying to create a new type within an abstracted font. This approach creates a mash of textures that is interesting but on the downside, the type is rendered a lot less legible.

In any case, please feel free to download it here

A Castle In Thin Air

In conjunction with the Singapore Design Festival 2007, various designers were asked to contribute artwork (for the design festival guide) responding to the questions: "what it means to think like a designer?" / "a way in which design thinking can create the best or most useful thing (greatest value-social, economical, cultural, environmental)"

Somewhere Else's submission:
Designers work to better the world; to realize the Ideal. This Ideal is a very fragile fantasy; easily corrupted and very difficult to reach. But it is the undaunted, relentless pursuit that binds the community and keeps the dream from floating too far away.
